Wise Ideas On How To Clean Your Houston Blinds

The Best & Easiest Ways To Clean Your Blinds In Houston

You might be cleaning your windows regularly but there’s a chance that your blinds and shades need that love too. They might be made out of fabric, vinyl, wood or aluminum and they make any room cool, block out the light and provide the necessary privacy from nosy neighbors. However, they collect dust, debris and pet hair.

Of course, you don’t need to clean every slat at once or remove the entire shade from the window for cleaning. With a few tools and a few minutes to spare, you blind will be as good as new. Here is what you need to know about cleaning your blinds quickly.

Materials & Tools Required

• A vacuum cleaner (make sure it has a soft brush attachment)

• Dishwashing liquid

• Microfiber Cloths

• Microfiber dust

• Warm water

Tips For Cleaning Aluminum, Vinyl, And Wood Blinds

1. Start By Preparing The Blinds

Lower the blinds. You can close faux-wood and wooden blinds completely. As for the aluminum and vinyl blinds, the slats usually overlap so you should tilt them downwards but don’t close them completely.

2. Next, You Should Dust The Blinds

Using one hand, hold the bottom part of your blind and use the microfiber cloth to wipe them starting from the top working downwards. Use the vacuum cleaner and make sure it has the soft dusting brush attachment with the low-suction setting to remove the dust on your blinds.

3. Clean The Opposite Side

Now you can flip the blinds on the opposite side and repeat the dusting process with the vacuum cleaner or the microfiber cloth.

4. Clean The Heavily Soiled Blinds With A Damp Towel

If dusting doesn’t clean the blinds, you can make the microfiber cloth damp with some warm water. If you have wooden blinds, make sure they don’t get too wet. If the blinds have been exposed to grease, residue or stubborn dust, you should use some dish soap and some warm water to clean them.

5. Vacuum Any Excess Dust Present

Now you can open the blinds and let them dry naturally. You should remove any excess dust on the floor or on the window sills.

Tips For Cleaning Fabric Shades

1. Prepare The Shades

Start lowering the honeycomb or Roman Shades completely.

2. Vacuum The Shades

With the soft brush attachment on the vacuum cleaner, use the low suction setting and run it over the shades starting from the top going downwards. Vacuum the back part of the fabric as well.

3. Spot Cleaning

If there any stains, you should spot clean them using a mixture of warm water and dish soap. Use the microfiber cloth to dab the stain multiple times especially if it is stubborn. Pour some clean water in the bowl and repeat the same procedure with the cloth. You can now let your shades air dry.
